Why is it important to stage your home?
The most important aspect of selling your home is staging. Staging is ensuring your home is “show-ready” for potential buyers. Staging can increase your selling price or even make or break your deal. Why is it so important? Buyers want to envision themselves living in your home, not you.The first step in staging your home is reducing or removing personal effects such as family photos or trophies. Again, buyers want to see themselves in the space, not you. Decluttering closets is also an important step as it makes the closets seem bigger. There are several options for organizing your closet, but a little “spring cleaning” never hurt anyone. Further, avoid painting with bright colors. This can again take away buyers’ vision about what they can do with the space. Try using whites and grays to allow for better imagination. The old adage “less is more” has never been so important. Finally, don’t forget your yard! Buyers are interested in the interior space, but a poorly tended yard or old, rusty patio furniture creates an unpleasant image. There are plenty of other ways to stage your home to make it more appealing to buyers, so don’t be afraid to get creative, but remember, less is more!
